Get rid of your tired, your poor?? Help fix our broken immigration system. Support JCUA's work for comprehensive immigration reform: Help raise $50,000 in 50 days for 50 states.
"Give me your tired, The famous poem on the Statue of Liberty, completed in 1903 by Emma Lazarus, a Sephardic Jew. "The huddled masses Lazarus set a welcoming tone for a century of mass immigration to the U.S. that included the parents and grandparents of most American Jews. But the welcoming tone in the country has struck a dissonant chord with the passage of SB 1070, an anti-immigrant, anti-human rights measure recently signed into law in Arizona. Help JCUA fight for a fix to the broken immigration system. As Jews, we are called upon to sound the shofar of justice, to replace the cacophony of strident voices with the harmony of chesed (kindness). Like the torch on the Statue, we are a "light unto the nations." That's the meaning of the torch in the JCUA logo. Over 50 days -- ending on Independence Day -- we are raising $50,000 (or more) to intensify the push for comprehensive legislation covering all 50 states. We call it "50x50x50" short for 50 days...50 states...50k. And we need your help. JCUA programs and actions:
