The profile of America that we Jews understand is one of justice, equality and diversity. Yet Arizona's SB1070, and the copycat laws under consideration in several other states*, threaten to define a new profile.

The new profile is, to put it plainly, racial profiling, where people who look like they might be illegal can be stopped by the police. Is this a picture of America that we can tolerate?

JCUA is launching a new campaign to reverse this deeply disturbing trend.

Over 50 days -- ending on Independence Day -- we will raise $50,000 (or more) to intensify the push for comprehensive legislation covering all 50 states. We call it "50x50x50" short for 50 days...50 states...50k. And we need your help.

This is a critical human rights campaign.

On the eve of the Jewish holiday of Shavuot, celebrating the giving of the Torah on Mount Sinai, we think of the Liberty Bell and its famous inscription from Leviticus: "proclaim liberty throughout the land unto all the inhabitants thereof."

But the bell is cracked, and that seems to symbolize the nation's "broken" immigration system.

Help JCUA fix it. We are already one-third of the way towards our $50,000 goal.

If only 500 people like you would make an affordable donation of $100 (for example) by July 4, we will surpass our target!

As a nation of immigrants, as a community of immigrants, don't let any more Arizonas change the profiling of America.

Sincerely,

Stephen Keen
President
